Easy Apple Butter

Ingredients: (to make the amount in my container)

6 apples

1 tbsp cinnamon

 

 

1.Cut up the apples into quarters, making sure to remove the core.  Place them in the slow cooker and heat on low for 5 hours.

2. Remove the apples from the slow cooker and blend in a blender.  Place the mixture back in the slow cooker, as well as adding the cinnamon.  Stir well and heat for another 30 minutes to thicken.

Use on toast, pancakes, graham crackers, whatever you want!

Homemade Onion Soup Mix

Ingredients:

2/3 cup dried, minced onion

3 tsp. parsley

2 tsp. turmeric

2 tsp. onion powder

1 tsp. celery salt

1 tsp. salt

1 tsp. sugar

1/2  tsp. pepper

1. Put all the spices in an airtight container.  Use 1/4 cup of seasoning for 1 packet of onion soup mix.

* to make dip, mix 1/4 cup of onion soup mix with 2 cups of sour cream.

Homemade Gingerbread Play Dough

Ingredients:

2 cups flour

1/2 cup salt

4 tsp. cream of tartar

2 cups water

2 tbsp. vegetable oil

4 tsp. ground cinnamon

2 tsp. ground ginger

2 tsp. ground nutmeg

1 tsp. ground cloves

 

1. Mix all ingredients in a sauce pan.  Stir until it looks like cake batter.

2. Heat on medium heat, stirring constantly.  When it is in one big ball and you are unable to stir more, take it out and lay on a cutting board.  Knead with your hands until it is smooth.

Homemade Enchilada Sauce

Ingredients:

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1/4 cup flour

1 can tomatoes or tomato sauce (3.5 cups)

2 tbsp. chili powder

1  1/2 tsp. oregano

1 tsp. cumin

1 tsp. garlic powder

1 tsp. onion powder

1 tbsp. brown sugar

salt and pepper to taste

1/2 cup water

 

1. Heat the vegetable oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat.  Whisk in the flour and stir until combined.

2. Stir in tomatoes or tomato sauce, spices and 1/2 cup water.  Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer until thickened, about 10 minutes.

3. Use immediately or refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
